  1. Merit Badge University is designed to allow Scouts to complete one Merit Badge in one day of classroom instruction and testing. The only way this is possible is for the Scouts to do those requirements (prerequisites) ahead of time that cannot be done in the one day of classroom instruction. Merit Badge University will not compromise on the quality and or content or any merit badge offered. The Scoutmaster of each troop must certify the prerequisites for each scout for each Merit Badge. A Scout is trustworthy. A list of each Merit Badges' prerequisites is provided on this web site.

  2. Class A Uniform is required

  3. At least one registered adult leader from you troop must be at Raleigh Merit Badge University for the entire day.

  4. There is Adult Training available.

  5. Adherence to the Scout Law is required. If you do not follow the Scout law we will ask your adult representative from your troop to take you home or call your parents.

  6. Each unit must present a completed and signed tour permit at registration .

  7. Each Scout will be given a merit badge blue card that will show the requirements that he has completed. Do not lose it. Raleigh MBU does not keep a copy of the blue cards.

  8. A morning snack and lunch will be provided for all adults and youth Scouts.

  9. All Scouts must be pre-registered. Registration will end on February, 8, 2010.

  10. Refunds will not be available after February 8, 2010. Registration is transferable to another Scout in your troop if there is room in the Merit Badge class he is requesting.  Refunds will not be given if a scout has not completed his prerequisites and is refused admittance to a class. Refunds will be made if classes are not available at the time of registration.

  11. Raleigh Merit Badge University does not supply Merit Badge Books.

  12. There are no individual registrations this year.

  13. There will be no new registrations on the day of MBU.

  14. Confirmations and class assignments will be sent to the troop leader after assignments are made and fees paid. Changes to assignments may be made through February 8, 2010, if space is available.

  15. Scoutmasters should monitor their scouts and make sure that they do the prerequisites. If a badge's specific prerequisite says that the scout should demonstrate something in his troop, then a note signed by the  scoutmaster stating details of what the scout did should be brought to MBU and given to the badge counselor. There are other prerequisites that require a scout to produce something and bring it to MBU and give it to the badge counselor; the scoutmaster should make sure that the scout does this work prior to MBU. And of course all scouts should read and learn what is in the badge pamphlet; the scoutmaster should make sure that the scouts read the  books.

  16. Enforcement of  prerequisite completion: At check-in, scouts are asked if they have completed all of their prerequisites; if not, the scout  is sent to the change table and reassigned to another badge if available or is sent home. Once in the classroom counselors check on prerequisite completion; if not complete , the scout is  sent to the change table and reassigned to another badge if available or is sent home. Scoutmasters are informed of all non-completion of prerequisites; if the there is problem of non-completion by an number of scouts in one troop then that could affect the troop's registration status for  the  next MBU. If a scoutmaster finds out that a scout will not be able to have all prerequisites completed by MBU,  he needs to ask to have that scout reassigned or un-enrolled prior to MBU.
